Founded in 1998 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, AROBS Transilvania Software is a leading provider of offshore/nearshore software development and of a variety of IT solutions.

As a software house, AROBS addresses the IT needs of industries as diverse as travel, financial, automotive, pharmaceutical, automation, and retail with mobile, Web, cloud, and client-server applications, fully featured IT systems, and IT products.

The company's initial focus on Java, Microsoft, Apple, and  AS/400 technologies has largely grown over time, being now dominated by the most recent technologies, like iPhone, Android, Symbian, Silverlight, etc.

The customer portfolio has also expanded greatly since 1998 to over 800 Romanian clients and many prestigious foreign customers from Germany, Finland, Switzerland. Norway, Austria, the Netherlands, and the USA. 

In march 2006, AROBS entered the GPS navigation market by becoming a distributor of the following brands: Mio, E-TEN, Qtek, MyGuideGPS, NavRoad, compatibile with iGO and Destinator routed maps.

Realizing that a highly procedural approach is a prerequisite for quality in the IT industry, the company executives decided to implement the ISO 9001:2000 quality management system. AROBS became ISO certified for “Software development for local and international markets” in December 2006.

Using the experience acquired while working with international companies, AROBS started developing software solutions for the Romanian market, which include a sales force automation system (SFA) on PALM and PDA (Optimall by Arobs), GPS/GPRS (TrackGPS) fleet tracking/monitoring systems, tourism applications (ATOS/ABOS), etc. Of these, TrackGPS has proven the most lucrative, as it tapped into a booming market, which continues to grow at a fast pace.

Faithful to its innovative spirit, AROBS launched Smailo, the first Romanian navigation system, which includes maps from all over Europe, in April 2008.

At present, AROBS Transilvania Software is one of best known IT companies in Romania, having as clients prestigious companies like Jidvei SA, Eximtur, Mobile Distribution – Euro GSM, Intrebrew (Centrala de achiziţii), RCS&RDS, Domo, Carrefour.

AROBS has consolidated its financial position in the Romanian IT&C market by selling 10% of its shares to the Finnish Investment Fond, Berling Capital, which has important investments in the hospitality, travel, financial, and software industries.

With the growth in portfolio (customers, services, products) came a substantial increase of the AROBS team, which now includes over 200 specialists, of which about 160 are software developers. Along with excellent programming skills, the AROBS team members also exhibit excellent linguistic abilities, all of them being fluent in at least one of the following languages: English, German, French, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish. Hungarian, and Romanian. Specialists with MBA degrees from the USA and Germany have joined AROBS over time, and so have people from West European countries, such as Ireland. 

This increase in numbers and quality paved the way for the support department, which has been established to provide add-on services to our customers.

To meet the growing demand from the local market, AROBS has recently opened an operational office in Bucharest and home offices in Iasi and Timisoara.
