AROBS Equipped the Iasi City Hall with Automated Ticketing for Public Transport

AROBS, the Cluj-Based providers of IT solutions, developed for the Iasi City Hall an automated ticketing solution for the public transport.  The solution includes both the software application and 10 terminals that will be located throughout the city.


The terminals purchased by the Iasi City Hall are outdoor models of the “self-service” type. The implementation of the automated ticketing system for the Iasi public transport is part of the Archimedes European project, which aims to introduce innovative solutions in the public transport sector, change the behavior of the public transport users and increase the number of students relying on the public transport.

The solution developed by AROBS aims at improving public transport services, optimize the public transport in cities that are important travel destinations, and to reduce labor costs for City Halls throughout Romania.

'This project is a part of our development strategy in the area of solutions for mobility.  We have already started collaborations with other utility providers in Romania  to implement solutions that would optimize their activities by monitoring fuel consumption or the routes used by their drivers", declared Voicu Oprean, general manager of AROBS Transilvania Software.

The company operates in three business lines: distribution of navigation systems, software solutions for the local and foreign markets, and software outsourcing. AROBS opened last year its  first offices abroad, in Budapest and Chisinau.  A collaboration with  resellers from Poland was also started last year. The company has 4 offices in Romania, with a total area of about 2000 square meters, and 4 regional sales centers in Bucharest, Oradea, Ploiesti, and Constanta. A new office will be opened this month in Iasi.

AROBS planned a 15% increase in the yearly Revenues for 2012, from about 9 Million EUR in 2011. These increases in revenues are explained by the penetration of international markets with the Smailo navigation system and the TrackGPS fleet management solution.

AROBS Transilvania Software was established in 1998, as a provider of software outsourcing services. The company's main shareholder is Voicu Oprean, its CEO, who owns 90% of the shares. AROBS has 291 employees at the time and plans to reach 400 by the end of the year. Since 2006, the Finnish group Hotelzon is a minority shareholder of AROBS, with 10% of the shares.
