Run for our forests @ AROBS Transilvania Half-Marathon! For each km you run, we will plant a tree!

“What you take from the earth, you must give back. That’s nature. “- Chris d’Lacey, The Fire Within.

With this in mind, the organizers of the AROBS Transilvania Half-Marathon in Cluj-Napoca have launched the invitation to the passionate runners to take part in the competition and their efforts will be rewarded with … a forest.

For every kilometer the participants will run, a tree will be planted in Cluj-Napoca. The event’s sponsor, AROBS, a leading software services company, an important player regarding the IT outsourcing in Romania market, fully supports this initiative. AROBS is not at the first major environmental action. Similarly, in the Spring of 2019, hundreds of software developers and their families planted the AROBS Forest, in Floresti, in the Cluj-Napoca metropolitan area.

The organizers of AROBS Transilvania Half-Marathon declares that the sums collected from the participation fees will be invested in the reforestation, with the support of Romsilva and the City Hall of Cluj-Napoca.  Nevertheless, the AROBS Transilvania Half-Marathon team hopes that over 10,000 seedlings will help reforest the lands around Cluj.

A decision well taken

In the light of the latest events, the decision taken by ATHM organizers and sponsors was simply right. It is a response to the environmental catastrophes that are occurring around the globe, which, in 2019, had worried billions of people. As international politics, but also as public opinion, the environmental problems are becoming more and more important. Social media in Romania and around the world is very concerned about the fires in the big forests of the world. Siberia burned weeks in a row in early Summer of 2019. Amazonia burns today and it seems that no one can stop the consuming fire.

All this in the increasingly alarming context of global environmental issues. Not to mention, we still use fossil fuels as a primary energy source, which increases radiation and contributes to global warming. Let’s not forget the plastic-filled oceans and forests cut down just to produce oil.

Furthermore, this effort made by the ATHM organizers is worth considering by each of us. Let’s start thinking more about this planet, the effects of our daily actions, what the consequences are for the environment.

My minimal effort and your minimal effort will keep Earth a place where we can all live, love and laugh. One house for every species that exists.

CoSo by AROBS or how to become a part of something bigger

CoSo by AROBS

CoSo by AROBS or how to become a part of something bigger

 The beginning

CoSo by AROBS is an IT company, located where else than in the beautiful land of the tulips and windmills? You guessed it. The Netherlands. CoSo was born 26 years ago with a thought for the future. And the future looked automatic. That’s why they chose as their main activity technical automation, more specifically, production automation.

A lot of things changed during this period, but one thing is certain. They were right with the automation thing. CoSo expertise helped to automate the processes in more than 60 logistics companies, even the City of Antwerp and the City of Gent (very beautiful cities by the way 😊)

Let’s be honest. What would an IT company be without software services? Of course, another important aspect of the company’s activity is related to software development. CoSo developers are highly specialized in software development and they don’t really believe in standard software. CoSo believes in customization. This means that they can deliver all kinds of innovative software designed to meet the requirements of any organization. Until this moment, CoSo managed to specialize in logistics, educational software or infrastructure.

The CoSo headquarters is in Ulvenhout (Breda) with a subsidiary in Belgium.

Work in progress

Inspired by the special schools in the country, CoSo developed MiCS. This is an application for scholars with special needs and it ensures the communication between students, parents and teachers and the online connection with the integrated national education reporting system.

Do you ever feel like you need some help in choosing an internship? We have an answer to your question. Its name is Stagezuil. This application matches students with companies, to find the perfect internship.

The manipulation and conversion of the documents is now easier with TransMessage. This app allows easy conversion of the documents between formats, is fully hosted in clod and the information is always available.

Take your logistical operation online with TransWeb. This application allows the customers to sign up transport files online, to check the status of every transport entry and the documents are very customizable.

The final touch

These interesting things done by CoSo attracted the eye of the Romanian investor and CEO of AROBS Transilvania Software, Voicu Oprean, who decided that it would be great if the companies work together.

With products similar to our own, the acquisition of CoSo completes our products in the fleet management area, process automation and even those related to educational software.

For CoSo, being a part of the big AROBS family means entering in a new era. It means combining the knowledge and expertise in the area of software development and process automation and activate on a new and different market, in the Eastern part of Europe.

Most importantly, AROBS gained on its side very talented and hardworking people, passionate about what they do and willing to learn more.

Moreover, by taking over CoSo, AROBS took over the challenges and the opportunities of the Benelux market, a dynamic but demanding market. The two companies are now working under the CoSo by AROBS flag as a common declaration of quality and innovation.

Above all, in over 20 years of activity in software services, AROBS managed to gather more than 850 colleagues in 7 offices in Romania and 6 others abroad. Certainly, all this time we were able to meet the demands of over 7000 clients.

GBTA 2019: The global gathering of the powerful travel industry

Nowadays, people travel, a lot. The “Veni, Vidi, Vici” quote is almost on everyone’s social media when on vacation. People love to see and discover new places, it’s in their nature. But regardless of where they are, one of the most important aspect is the traveler experience. Outsourcing software development companies gather at GBTA 2019 and are working hard to help the industry to make the experience better and better.

The travel industry is a huge one. Apart from leisure, the business travel brings on the table around $1.3 trillion worth of revenue, making it the cherry on top in the industry. Hard to believe? Here is a short explanation – even though corporate travelers make up just 12% of airline passengers, around 70% of all passenger revenue can be attributed to them. And let us consider, a new report  provided by Travelport. The report shows young people aged 18 to 34 are most likely to spend more money on vacations than other age groups. Hence the future is traveling.

Moreover, the place to see the whole power of the industry in motion is GBTA (Global Business Travel Association). Which makes a great job bringing together the top travel providers and many other companies that work in the industry. This year, the main topic of the convention is based on traveler experience and how to improve it. More than 7000 people participated at the event, making it the biggest convention since its start, 51 years ago.

AROBS was among them. We are very happy that we were able to participate in the convention this year through our colleagues presence. They always come back with great ideas and the latest news and trends in the travel industry. As a result, we  always  have a good overview  in our Travel&Hospitality division.

The most interesting buzzwords and concepts of GBTA 2019

NDC (New Distribution Capability) will enable the travel industry to transform the way air products are sold. It is a travel industry-supported program, launched by IATA, for the creation of a new, XML-based data transmission standard (NDC Standard). The NDC Standard eases the communications between airlines and travel agents. It’s a concept for which AROBS is fully onboard, working on global sized projects already. Read more about our expertise.

Focusing on helping others should be a priority. The event started with the second annual Awareness 5K Run & Walk race held by the GBTA. The 500 participants raised $20,000. Everyone ran or walked in order to raise awareness about the need to stop human trafficking and to end child exploitation. This is a very hot topic and it’s important to support a cause that concerns us all. Our colleagues in AROBS wanted to be involved in this event because they believe in the cause and its purpose.

Airlines companies think that dedicate support teams will enhance customer experience. Related to the improved business traveler experience, the support teams will be available for corporate accounts and it will make everything easier by providing support 24/7, during peak and off-peak hours. The efforts are made in order to avoid creating more costs for companies by canceled flights, delays, misconnects and any other ancillary expenses.

Traveler experience as a satisfied employee. Nowadays many companies have employees that must travel in order to discuss with potential clients, sign contracts, or maintain old clients. Most of them agree that the travel experience has a significant impact on retention and reduces corporate turn over. A study made by GBTA shows that there are a few traveler-centric efforts that can be made to retain and reduce corporate turnover such as upgrade to business class, better quality technology, more travel centric policies, additional time off for frequent traveling or less strict rules while traveling.

However, the study shows that traveler experiences can impact corporate retention and turnover – both positively and negatively. First, it can have a positive aspect if every employee would track and analyze the travel experience. Furthermore, the companies can have a complete picture of their travel policies and approaches and see if there is anything that needs to be changed. Negatively, if the traveler does not track and analyze his travel experience, the company is entitled to believe that its policies are right and can be tempted to save money on its travel program. And this at the cost of a potential employee turnover.

AI is always a good idea. Sometimes finding the best flight, the best accommodation, the best transportation at the best price is time consuming. And the result is not always what we expect. Luckily, we now have the opportunity to use AI in our favor even when we are traveling.

Nevertheless, the solution is definitely working in our favor. By providing a clear line of sight into saving achieved by implementing recommendations across sourcing, rate types and policy improvements.

Blockchain in travel is a most welcomed disruption. Blockchain capabilities can drive travel innovation, with the potential to provide TMCs real ROI with hotel commission settlements and benefits to corporate travel programs. Currently, a large percentage of hotel commissions are getting lost or going unpaid due to the manual processes required fulfilling commission settlements.

Manual testing (1)

manual testing

Manual testing – an indispensable testing method (Part 1)

In all the IT companies in Romania, specialized in software services, you can find a handful of QA Engineers/Technicians/Analysts, also known as testers in common language. They perform manual testing on various projects. This testing method has the purpose to ensure the quality in the software.

In this first part of the article, we are focusing on manual testing and how to do manual testing.

What does manual testing mean?

Manual testing is a type of Software Testing. It involves a process in which the QA Analyst is using the functions and features of an application, in order to verify if the software is working correctly. During this process, the manual tester conducts a series of pre-defined test cases based on test scenarios to discover defects (bugs) in software.

So basically, testers take over the role of an end-user and test the software. Manual testing implies testing the software manually, without using any kind of automated tools or scripts.

Now that we have an idea of what manual testing means, let’s see how it’s done.

How to do manual testing?

First, in order to proceed in testing the software, you must understand the requirements. In this way, you will understand what you need to test and what you can classify as a defect or bug.

To help the testers in their job, they create a test plan document. This document describes, in detail, how to approach testing the software. It also describes the workflow that will occur.

Second, test cases. Being a crucial part of manual testing, test cases practically guide the tester through the entire process of testing, with the help of steps to test functions and different scenarios within the software application. Once written, testers conduct these test cases in order to deliver bug-free software.

A good test case must cover all the positive and negative scenarios. It must be accurate (to contain the exact purpose), economical (do not use unnecessary words or steps), traceable (traced to requirements), repeatable (can be used again to perform tests), reusable (can be reused if necessary).

During tests, testers are responsible for logging bugs. As the tests run, if they find any kind of inconvenience or defect, they must write a bug report. A good bug report must have a strong title, steps to replicate the bug, an expected and an actual result, and any relevant information or attachments. These reports will help the development team understand and fix the problem.

The last step is related to reporting on the test results. After running the test cases you must know how many tests were run, how many failed or how many prevailed. A test report is needed to see the testing results in a formal way. It is basically a document which describes environmental or operating conditions and shows the comparison of the test results with test objectives.

Stay tuned for Part 2 😊
